Dede Ayew reacts to Ghana's 1-0 win over Ethiopia.

Despite a crucial 1-0 win over Ethiopia in their 2022 World Cup qualifier on Friday, Ghana captain Andre Ayew admitted it was not an easy outing.

Mubarak Wakaso's lone goal was enough to give the Black Stars a 1-0 win over the Walya Antelopes in Group G at Cape Coast Stadium on Friday. In the absence of the first-choice duo of Arsenal's Thomas Partey and Ajax's Mohammed Kudus, Ghana coach CK Akonnor entrusted China-based Wakaso and Real Mallorca's Mohammed Iddrisu Baba to control the midfield.

The former returned the manager's faith in him by scoring the game's most crucial goal for the West Africans.

"We got the three points. Nothing comes easy. Despite the lack of a full stadium, the atmosphere was fantastic "Ayew made a social media post.

"We appreciate all Ghanaians' love and support. We continue on our journey."

The Black Stars are now top of the table with maximum points, while South Africa and Zimbabwe are tied for second with one point each after a goalless draw.

Hugo Broos' first match in command of Bafana Bafana came after he missed the team's friendly against Uganda and the 2021 Cosafa Cup because to his second Covid-19 vaccination at home in Belgium.

However, the rewards were split after 90 minutes at Harare's National Sports Stadium.

On Monday, Bafana Bafana will play Ghana in their second Group G match.
