Asante Kotoko Taste First Defeat Of The Season As King Faisal Take Over GPL

Asante Kotoko have tasted their defeat of the season after losing 2 - 3 to King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The two clubs are now joint table toppers with 13 points.

Asante Kotoko and King Faisal gave an early indication of a win as soon as the game commenced. 

Andrews Appau cleared the ball from the foot of an opponent and the ball goes over for a corner. The resultant kick was blown apart.

Salifu Mudasiru goes to the ground holding his thigh and appearing to be in pain after beating his marker. 

Asante Kotoko surged through Samuel Appiah's cross into the box but was headed out to corner. The resultant kick was cleared but Asante Kotoko possessed and threatened King Faisal area. 

King Faisal kept their composure and played through a well thought out game plan to get the opening goal via Zubairu Ibrahim. This was after they had bossed every area of the pitch.

King Faisal pursued the second goal which paved way from a fine finish by Zubairu Ibrahim. That became his brace for the game. 

Asante Kotoko mounted pressure and attack to reduce the deficit but King Faisal defenders remained cautious to balloon balls out. 

Asante Kotoko had a corner kick after a cross was redirected over the line, but the resultant kick was cleared off.

Some sleek passing from Asante Kotoko dominated but that was not potent enough to get into the net. 

Ibrahim Imoro's cross into the box is charged on by Boateng who is pushed off the ball by Wadudu Yakubu as King Faisal clear their lines. 

Isaac Oppong's cross is straight to the goalkeeper and Kusi (Faisal) would go down untouched and invite medical attention. 

Mfegue's cross into the box is headed out and King Faisal would attack down the right. 

Chances fell for both sides but King Faisal ended first half with a goal.

In the early stages of the second half, Mfegue reduced the deficit for Asante Kotoko with a close range.

Andrews Appau tried to equalize for Asante Kotoko but had his header cleared away by the goalkeeper. 

Salifu Mudasiru topped up with a shot but missed the target. 

As Kotoko kept opening up, Zubairu Ibrahim added the third goal for King Faisal after a brilliant effort. 

Asante Kotoko bounced back with pressure and had a goal through the brace of Mfegue. 

King Faisal guarded their lead to end the game with victory.
