Lionel Messi Sets New Record As Barcelona Trashes Mallorca, 4:0

Barcelona demolished Mallorca in their first game after the return of La Liga with Lionel Messi achieving 20 La Liga goals for thee 12th successive season in the top five European leagues which no other player has achieved yet. He has scored at least 20 league goals in all 12 of his campaigns (from 2008-09 season to 2019-20) beating Cristiano Ronaldo who has 11 consecutive seasons with 18 goals and more from the English Premier League with Manchester United to La Liga and now Serie A.

He had a calm match from the two assists and a goal he scored.

It all took 65 seconds into the match with Mallorca for Barcelona to score their first goal on their resumption with Frenkie de Jong winning the ball from an opponent and finding Jordi Alba on the left, who flicks in an early cross towards Arturo V al planting the header into the back of the net.

The second goal came from Martin Braithwaite scoring his first goal for Barcelona with an assist from Lionel Messi who works it on with a feather of a header to the former Middlesbrough man who sidefoots it powerfully into the top of the net. 

The third goal landing from a stunning pass from Lionel Messi setting off Jordi Alba down the left who springs through and beats the goalkeeper at the near post.

The final goal assisted by Luis Suarez locates Lionel Messi on the left who cuts confidently inside the box, beats two Mallorca, men and flashes in a right-footed shot into the goal.
