Joseph Aidoo born on 29th September, 1995 is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as centre-back for Spanish club RC Celta de Vigo and the Ghana national team. Aidoo is recommended as one of the aggressive and talented central defenders in Ghana currently and reliable at the back.
He started his professional football career at the Tema based club Inter Allies in the First Capital Plus Premier League. During his spell at the club he was recommended as one of the youngest and finest defenders in the league.In 2013–14, Aidoo was nominated in the category "Defender of the year" in the Ghana Premier League, but eventually missed out on the award. He was the club captain during the season of 2014–15 at a tender age and made an impressive remark for his side as at that time.
The 25 year old has had stint with top notch clubs such as Genk, Hammarby IF just to mention a few.On 11 July 2019, Aidoo agreed to a five-year contract with Spanish giants RC Celts de Vigo for a reported fee of €8 million.His former club Hammarby received €380,000 as part of the deal.He made his debut for the Galician club on 24 August 2019 in a 1-0 home win against Valencia starting and playing 90 minutes at center-back.
The centre back has made a comment in relation to his favourite player and mentor growing up and he stated that former Ghanaian and Bayern Munich defender Sammy Kuffuor is the one.He has not conceal his desire to play for German giants Bayern Munich and these were his statement in relation to his desire “I chose Sammy Kuffour as my mentor because for me, I think I will be playing for Bayern Munich in future and he has been there.And that is why I am always looking up to him and he has made a good impact on the football world. When I was a kid, Bayern was the club that touched my heart and that is why I admire them," he added.
The centre back has also had a remarkable spell for the national team.He was part of the U-20 side that played in the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup for Ghana. He featured in all the matches that Ghana played in and were eliminated by Mali in the Quarterfinals. Due to his outstanding performance he was called into the Ghana National Football team and made his debut on the 26th March 2019 in a friendly against Mauritania.
Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick has not also ruled out a possibility of the centre back joining the bavarians and this was his statement “There are many players who would like to play for FC Bayern. If he has the appropriate aptitudes and qualities, then I do think that he would be considered," Hansi Flick said.
