The hosts have in no way delivered performances that are worthy of a spot in the sport’s biggest tournament. They are 6 points behind South Korea who as things stand should seal themselves a spot in Qatar next year.
However, Lebanon finds themselves in a position that qualifies them to the 4th round for a chance to compete in the inter-confederation playoffs.
UAE on the other hand is yet to register themselves a single win in this stage of the qualifiers. Despite losing against Iran and Korea Republic, the top 2 teams in the group, they have managed to gain a point against the remaining teams in the group.
They are currently 5th in the table with 3 points just a point clear of bottom place Syria and lagging behind their opponents this Tuesday by a couple of points.
Lebanon has delivered better performances over the tournament and was unlucky in their losses. After barely managing to hold on to a point against this foe, UAE are unlikely to cause major damage on the road. Hence I have backed an Asian handicap in favour of the hosts.
