In what seemed like a social media gossip in the last 24 hours, the reality has come out the former coach of West Africa Football Academy, Dr Prosper Nartey Ogum has left his role as the head coach of the Porcupine warriors. Dr Ogum led the team to win the 2021/2022 premier league in a fashion that many Kumasi Asante Kotoko fans were excited about and had become a darling boy for the Kumasi-based team. The news of his resignation came as a shock as many never anticipated this. From a poor performance at their preseason in Dubai, he turned things around by winning the league with about three matches to spare. Currently, he is arguably the best coach in the country and everybody thought he was leading Kotoko to Africa for glory.

On the surface, things appeared to be normal between him and the club. Little did we know there were underlying conditions or situations that could make the 2021/2022 league winner leave the club in this manner. After a meeting with management yesterday, 20th July, 2022, rumours started that he had resigned and many thought it was a prank.

Reports are coming that there are unresolved issues between himself and management, a lot of interference and lack of respect even from some of the senior players, unpaid salaries and bonuses. Reports also suggest that the coach was also not happy with the way players were transferred out of the club. Some have even indicated he was not on talking terms with the CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko is yet to speak on this issue as the gaffer is expected to tender his resignation on Friday.
