Nations League: France beat Portugal by lone goal to qualify for Nations League final.

France beat Portugal 1-0 at Estadio da Luz today to qualify for the Nations League final next year.

Ngolo Kante's 53rd minute goal, from Rui Patricio's error, settles the score to qualify France ahead of Portugal.

Patricio has been Portugal's savior all night, especially in the hands of Anthony Martial, before his error gifted the smart legs of Kante in the second half.

Martial could have been on hatrick in the first half, but Patricio's brilliant goalkeeping denied the Manchester United's striker any goal to keep his side in the tie before the stroke of half time.

France adventurous play later on pay-off on the 53rd minute through Ngolo Kante, after Adrien Rabio's shot has left the gloves of Patricio to the path of Kante.

Portugal now lost a competitive home match for the first time in six years.

Didier Deschamps men will not only celebrate the win that edge them ahead of the Nations League cup holders, to the final, but also as a revenge to the lost of euro 2016.

France top league A group 3, with 13 points after five matches, whiles Portugal are second with 10.

In other result on the night from the same group, Sweden beat Croatia 2-1, that put both teams on equal points of three.

The last round of matches will come off on the 17th of November 2020. Portugal will travel to Croatia, whilst France can have a good party with Sweden at home.
