The “Pride of the North” hosted Elmina Sharks at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in week nine and made a mince meat of them. Real Tamale United had held Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in week eight and built upon it. RTU have been rejuvenated under coach Shaibu Tanko and have since produced some interesting results. The Premier League returnees beat Elmina Sharks 2-0 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium with goals coming from Ronald Frimpong and David Abagna Sandan.
Prior to hosting Elmina Sharks, Real Tamale United had picked seven points from a possible 12. The recorded two wins, a draw and a loss in their last four games of the season. Their week five game was against AshantiGold which they won 2-0 at home. The week six was also a shocking result which they beat Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at the Golden City Park.
The seventh week was a loss at home to Medeama. They lost 1-0 in that game leading up to week eight. The week eight clash was against Asante Kotoko which they managed to draw 1-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium. They have now beaten Elmina Sharks 2-0 and that will send them to 14 points from nine games into the season.
