Asante Kotoko captain Ismael Abdul Ganiyu to miss Legon Cities game due to injury

Asante Kotoko will be without their captain Ismael Abdul Ganiyu for their game with Legon Cities on Sunday, it has been confirmed.

Ganiyu is injured and will sit out this Ghana Premier League, GPL Matchday 26 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The player has not recovered from the injury he sustained in their home game with Karela United in Kumasi and, will miss tomorrow's encounter with the Royals.

He has missed Kotoko's last three matches as they sit top of the table seeking to win this season's championship.

Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum will have to do without his trusted skipper who has been a constant figure at the heart of their defence this season.

In his absence, Coach Ogum can call on either Andrews Appau, Maxwell Agyeman, Yussif Mubarak and Augustine Agyapong to form his rear as they go in search of their 16th win of the campaign.

Kotoko will also miss the services of midfielder Justice Blay who has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing a successful surgery on his injured leg.

The good news for Asante Kotoko is that Richmond Lamptey is available for selection after returning to training after being out for a couple of games with injury.

Kotoko will look to preserve their eight points lead at the top of the stairs in this fixture as they chase a record extending 25th GPL title.
