Hearts of Oak Will Soon be The Biggest and Richest Club in Africa - Board Member Insists

Egypt giants, Al Ahly and Zamalek, Esperance are one of the most branded clubs in Africa as far as football is concerned.

It is not surprising that Al Ahly are the most successful team in the world, Confederation of Africa Football [CAF] Champions League and domestic football having won the a combined 115 domestic trophies, a combined of 22 CAF organized competitions. Al Ahly have also won five international competitions. One club that wants to emulate the success story or even be better than Al Ahly is Ghana Premier League side, Accra Hearts of Oak.

Board member of the Phobians, Vincent Sowah Odotei says the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League champions want to be bigger greater than two continental giants Al Ahly and Zamalek all of Egypt. Hearts of Oak are one of the biggest and the most successful clubs in Ghana. However they have been missing on the continent, due their absence from interclub competitions and financial issues. Accra Hearts of Oak returned to Africa after winning the Ghana Premier League for the first time in 11 years. The Phobians have been in hibernation for extremely long time that the fans started losing hope in the club. Vincent Sowah Odotei is has outlined some ideas and objectives geared towards making Accra Hearts of Oak a bigger club than Al Ahly and Zamalek.

“We will have a commercial centre dedicated solely for merchandising, ticket sales and a whole complete commercial unit that will ensure that, apart from operational income of matchday proceeds, we will be able to generate revenues from merchandising. “We’ve employed dedicated officers for ticketing, merchandising, and sponsorship”, the Hearts of Oak director told Starr FM in an interview. Vincent Odotei Sowah added: “That’s what we call relationships. In addition, the commercial manager, we are going to employ more people. The project of hearts of oak should not be different from Real Madrid. We want to be greater than Al Ahly and Zamalek within the medium term.”

Accra Hearts of Oak are in Morocco for their second preliminary CAF Champions League play-offs return leg clash against Moroccan champions Wydad Athletic Club at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca. Hearts of Oak recorded a slim 1-0 win in their first leg clash at the Accra Sports Stadium. Hearts of Oak got their only goal from attacker, Isaac Mensah in the first half of the game. The ebony Black forward poked into the Wydad Athletic Club net after receiving a perfect long range assist from mercurial midfielder, Salifu Ibrahim on the 41st minute.
