One player who have been dealt with a serious blow by injuries throughout every season is the former Asokwa Deportivo player, Appiah McCarthy is set to spent the next three months on the treatment table thanks to a recurrent injury. The workaholic enforcer earned reputation for his work ethics and unique passing accuracy from deep midfield position.
However, it looks very likely that McCarthy who has been a standout in the team and in the league will play no part in their games due to injury. The key midfielder is suffering an injury in his side’s demoralizing loss to Legon Cities on last week Friday. The 23-year-old has been out of action after their match at Accra Sports Stadium where he helped the Ashanti Gold team but was not able to finish with a win after the match. McCarthy is undergone a test which the medical doctor has suggested for a surgery which will keep him out off the pitch for two weeks.
History has made it clear that, no matter the instance the replacement of the midfielder has already been filled but there will still be some petty, petty tactics the coach cannot deploy in the players absence. Ashanti Gold Sporting club has won only one in their last three premier league matches, and the game against the Porcupine Warriors is a must win for them. The absence of McCarthy leaves coach Milovan sweating as he prepares to face Asante Kotoko who have been on the rise in the recent league matches.
"We have sent him to Kumasi for scan, as to what type of injury exactly he suffered, that would be established after the scan. The scan was done last month (January 23, 2021) but obviously, he cannot play the game against Kotoko”, Eric Bioh, Administrative Manager for the club told ghanasportspage.com in an interview.
