Chelsea news and transfers LIVE: Frenkie De Jong claim, Marc Cucurella agreed, Done deal

Keep up to date with all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours and team news on Tuesday.

Now that August has arrived, the Premier League will resume in a matter of days. But the crucial question is: is Chelsea prepared?

There is still work to be done if they are going to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool this season, especially since only two major signings have been made (Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulilbaly).

But for the time being, all attention will be on this Saturday, when Thomas Tuchel leads his team against Frank Lampard's Everton to face a familiar foe.

With nearly 40 first-team players, Chelsea will have a sizable squad for the match. But do they possess sufficient strength to earn all three points? And finally, a question that fans will ask is: Will there be any additional additions before the weekend?

Frenkie De Jong claim

De Jong preferred staying at Barca, Chelsea, and London, which isn’t a likely destination for the Holland International, but this follows that thought.

Fofana not for sale

Opera News understands Chelsea have made contact over a move for Fofana in the past week, with the Blues looking to add further depth to their centre-back options, but Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers said: “No, he’s not for sale." When we looked at him, he had made 17 league starts. Everyone had a look at him back then, but he’s come here, really flourished and developed, not just as a player but as a young man. He really respects the club. I’ve got no doubt that in the future he’ll be on that (highest) stage, but he’s very comfortable, he feels good here.

Cucurella agreement

According to Fabrizio Romano, Marc Cucurella and Chelsea have come to a personal agreement. He will become the Blues' third summer purchase should Brighton accept an offer. Chelsea and Brighton are in direct talks again today to finalize the deal.

Chelsea exits

It seems as though a few exits could be on the cards at Chelsea before the end of the transfer window. Chelsea are working on two possible departures: Malang Sarr is in talks with Ligue 1 clubs despite Fulham's bid. There’s a meeting scheduled today between Napoli and Kepa’s agent to discuss the details of the loan proposal. Both players could leave Chelsea soon.
