Sam Kerr sign new deal with Chelsea until 2024

Australian forward Sam Kerr has been an important member of the Chelsea team since joining the 2019 season. She scored 39 goals in 47 appearances. Mr. Kerr said: "You can't take what you have in Chelsea to go anywhere else in the world or leave Europe."

Sam Kerr has signed a new contract, according to which Chelsea will operate until 2024.

After a stunning full season debut for the club, the Australian international striker has been an important part of the team since joining mid-2019.

She has scored 39 goals in 47 games.

After extending his tenure for another two years, Kerr said: "It's very exciting. I'm really happy with the club. It's a great opportunity to be in a club like Chelsea.

"It was just the right time. It feels really good to be here. I think the club gives us every opportunity to succeed as a player.

"I can't see myself go anywhere else in the world or leave Europe and have everything I have at Chelsea.

"Honestly, I didn't want to rush into something like I did when I first signed here. It just happened naturally."

The Matildas captain also recalled her decision to stay in Chelsea.

“The team talks to themselves every day in training to play with world-class players. They are challenged every day and win trophies at the same time,” Carr added.

"I didn't win much when I came here and I think it's easy to stay since last season."

General Manager Paul Green added: "We are very happy that Sam has renewed his contract with the club. Sam is just one of the best strikers and shooters in the world.

"We want to further develop our recent successes, and Sam will play a major role in achieving these goals in the future."

The 28-year-old forward scored 21 goals in 22 games and won the Golden Boot of the Barclays Women's Super League 2020/21 season.
