Access Bank will serve as the new title sponsor for the National Division One League, according to a statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Kurt Okraku, the head of the GFA, estimates the sponsorship to be worth $250,000.
Since GN Bank discontinued its financial packages in 2017, the Division One League has been played without a headline sponsor for the past five years.
Kurt Okraku announced the news at the 28th Extraordinary Congress. "The Ghana Football Association [GFA] has successfully sealed a $250,000 partnership deal with Access Bank Ghana Limited, which will see the bank join as official bankers of the FA and also headline sponsors of the National Division One League.
For the following two years, "Melcom Ghana will distribute coupons worth Gh 5000 to each Division One League club," he continued.
The deal's specifics have not yet been made public, but it is anticipated to be lucrative for the league.
Earlier this month, The Ghana Football Association announced Betpawa and Malta Guinness as official headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League and Women's Premier League.
