It has been over 30 years since the senior national team of Ghana won the African Cup of Nations.
The 2021 version of the AFCON have been postponed 2 times and has now been scheduled to take place in January 2022.
The Black Stars of Ghana can only win the tournament if the coach present this lineup.
There are reasons for some of the players inclusion.
Richard Attah should be picked ahead of Richard Ofori who has been the number for the Black Stars over years now. Ofori has seemed to lost his confidence after committing two errors leading to goals for his club this season. This might also be due to his recent injuries.
Fit again Baba Rahaman and Jeffrey Shullup takes up the left and right back positions respectively.
The two players have the ability of cutting in crosses for the attackers to score goals. The modern left backs and right backs adds goals and assists to their defensive efficiency. A clear example is Liverpool Trent Alexander Arnold and Andy Robertson.
Experienced Jonathan Mensah and Daniel Amartey takes the center defense. Amartey has been in good shape for Leicester City since recovering from his injury. He has helped them to win the FA Cup and Community Shield.
Unarguably, Thomas Partey and Wakaso must be in the squad provided they are fit. The Black Stars needs a player who can score from a long range efforts and a free-kick expert, as a result Fatawu Issahaku need to be included. He will also learn from the experience Wakaso and Partey
Young rising star, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Andre Ayew will support experience Asamoah Gyan in attack. The stars also need the experience of Asamoah Gyan who has represented Ghana in more than six tournaments with two AFCON finals and one FIFA World Cup Quarter final in South Africa 2010.
Gyan and Ayew experience will help Kamaldeen to quickly adopt to the team.
