We Are Already Psyched up For Asante Kotoko - Michael Osei

Head coach of Gold Stars, Michael Osei has said that his charges are already psyched up to face Asante Kotoko.

The Premier League entrants host the Porcupine Warriors on Friday at the Duns Park in week two fixture of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League with kick off set at 3:00pm. Gold Stars have shown grit in their two opening games of the season - beating former premier league champions, Berekum Chelsea 1-0 in a week one home clash before picking an important away point in a 1-1 draw against Medeama in week two at the Akoon Park. Asante Kotoko have picked two straight wins - coming from a goal down to beat Dreams FC 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium and a 2-0 home win against Bechem United in the second week. Michael Osei, who once played and coached Kotoko admits the record Ghana Premier League holders have started the season well which they need to acknowledge.

“They[Asante Kotoko] have really started well like we too, so we will be afraid only that we will not over respect them, not at all”. “We need to concentrate more than the 90 minutes for avoiding any late goal and also awareness in our defensive third. “I got the opportunity to watch them on their game against Bechem so we will strategise very well to put pressure on them to make them do mistakes at their defensive third. “I can not say much about our tactical play before the game but with our top shape at the moment I believe we can give them top opposition”, Coach Micheal Osei told Ghanasportscenter.

Michael Osei believes his players have already toughened themselves mentally to face Asante Kotoko. “Playing against kotoko, Coaches don’t need to do much to psyche their players. They have already psyched themselves. “They are more than ready for this game.” Michael Osei added. It will be a memorable moment for Micheal Osei who will be meeting the club he previously managed. Prior to managing Asante Kotoko, Osei was an assistant under Anthony Commeh at now second tier side, New Edubiase United. He has handled relegated Liberty Professionals and Star Madrid FC post Asante Kotoko era.
