Inter-schools sports competition organized among schools in Ghana are likely to resume from latter part of this year. Organizers have commenced discussions with various stakeholders to draw a complete plan for the games.
Athletics and football dominate the competition organized among schools across Ghana. Schools in Ghana have been participating in such games since time immemorial to unearth talent, create healthy competition among schools and students and seal bragging rights in the end.
Due to Covid-19, both athletics and football organized among schools have been on hold. It was anticipated, the games will resume late last year but that did not see the light of the day.
Early this year, reports emerged that the football competition among schools was set to bounce back as soon as possible.
Discussions are underway among stakeholders to come out with a clear direction as to how and when to resume the games.
Inter-schools athletics and football could only resume in the latter part of the year, as Government of Ghana continues to monitor COVID-19 cases across the country.
Per plans, it may resume without students or spectators at various venues. Even if schools will be allowed to participate, that may take place behind closed doors, in order to avert a spike in COVID cases.
The old format of the competition will be maintained in all regions.
