Ghana FA sets August 18 as date for 28th Ordinary Congress

The Executive Council (EC), of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has set the date for the next ordinary congress of the body ahead of the start of the next football season.

At it's last EC meeting on Tuesday, a decision was taken to hold this congress on Thursday, August 18, 2022 in line with Article 31 (2) of the GFA Statutes 2019.

That Article states that, "the Executive Council shall fix the date and venue for a meeting of Congress. The members shall be notified at least 10 days in advance".

The GFA Statutes provides that "Congress shall meet in an Ordinary Session once every football season, usually before the commencement of the said season".

According to a release posted on the media channels of the GFA, the venue for the Congress shall be the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram.

Congressmen would be expected to take decisions on the future direction of Ghana football at the upcoming event with next season in mind.

It is expected to be attended by all stakeholders in Ghana football from administrators, clubs and referees among others.

The Congress will also approve the demotion and promotion of clubs in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), the National Division One League (DOL) and the Women's Premier League.

The official program for next season, is also expected to be passed by Congress ahead of the start of the next campaign.

The 2022/23 football season has been penciled in to kick off on the weekend of Friday, September 9 to Monday, September 12, 2022.
