Marseille and Lazio are set to battle it out once again in the Group E derby on Thursday evening, at the advance arena.
The match they played two weeks ago in Rome ended without goals. It was Marseille’s third draw in as many games, while Lazio claimed their fourth point of the campaign, following a 2-0 victory over Lokomotiv Moscow at Stadio Olimpico beforehand.
Since Galatasaray sit at the top of the group standings with seven points from three matches, it is clear that neither Marseille nor Lazio can quite afford a defeat here.
The hosts should enter the game in somewhat higher spirits following a 0-1 victory at Clermont Foot on Sunday evening.
It was the first victory after three successive draws across competitions for the team led by Jorge Sampaoli.
Lazio, on the other side, drew 2-2 away at Atalanta. We can consider it a great result for Maurizio Sarri’s men knowing they had earlier suffered back-to-back tough losses to Bologna and Verona.
