We won't Kill Abalora - CK begs Ghanaians to encourage under fire goalkeeper

The head coach of Black Stars, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has noted that Razak Abalora needs to be encouraged after his blunder gifted the Atlas Lions of Morocco a one nil win against Ghana on Tuesday night.

The team as part of its preparation for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers tabled two friendly games against Morocco in Rabat and will play another on Saturday against the Elephants of la Côte d'Ivoire at the Cape Coast Sports stadium.

However, despite the impressive performance of the Black Stars against Morocco, a 69th-minute howler from the Asante Kotoko shot-stopper Jawad El Yamiq the only goal of the game following a freekick by Chelsea player Hakim Ziyech to record their first win against Ghana in over 20 years.

It is in light of this that C.K Akonnor in a post-match interview with Henry Asante Twum noted that the former Azam FC player needs the encouragement of the team because he is still a good goalkeeper.

“He made a mistake and he knows that but we are not in a position to kill him. We need each and everyone. Yes we have to move on and encourage him, {and} he's a good goalkeeper. There's no doubt about that,” C.K concluded.
