Did you know that Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are both older than Ghana Black Stars? Find out

In today's article, let us look at three key football teams in Ghana. One is a national team and the other two are major club teams in Ghana. 

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are both older than the senior National team, the black stars of Ghana.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko which is popularly known as Porcupine Warriors was founded on 31st August, 1935. The club is currently 86 years old. This key club is located in the Asante regional capital of Ghana. Baba Yara Sports Stadium is their home grounds for home matches. Otumfour Osei Tutu II is the owner of this great club with Mariano Barreto as the current manager.

Accra Hearts of Oak on the other hand is much older than Kumasi Asante Kotoko. It was founded on 11th November, 1911. Phobia is the nickname for the club. They hold the current title of the Ghana Premier League. The club is currently 109 years. 

Accra Sports Stadium is their grounds for playing home matches. Samuel Boadu is the current manager of the club.

Ghana Black Stars

This is the senior national team in Ghana. However, the above mentioned clubs are far older than this main team. It was founded in 1950. It has been in several international tournaments which the team members always make Ghana proud. The club is 71 years old.

It can be seen that, both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are older than the senior national team, the Black stars of Ghana.
