President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is set to address the nation for the 17th time tonight. And as it has been the case for previous addresses, President Nana Addo will give the nation the latest Covid 19 numbers as well as new measures that will be put in place.
Here is a forecast of what to expect from tonight's address
1. Land and Sea borders likely to open
Yesterday, Ghana recorded the lowest Covid 19 daily numbers since the pandemic hit the nation with a lowly 449 cases And considering the restrictions on air travel has had little impclact on Ghana's Covid numbers, it is very likely that the restrictions on Land and sea travel will be lifted.
2. Easing of restrictions on Contact Sports
It is very likely that the ban on contact sports such as football, will be eased during tonight's address. This is because various stakeholder consultations that have gone on to the past two weeks have proven fruitful. And the GFA publicity officer was very confident that they had agreed on various Covid preventive measures, when he addressed the media earlier in the week. And as such, football is very likely to return if the ban on contact sports is lifted tonight.
3. Address the pending strike of some health workers
Last week, it was reported that anaesthetists, nurses and Physician Assistants publicized their intention to go on strike starting tomorrow, Monday 21St. The president is expected to address the issue tonight and most likely give in to what their proposals may be. As the country cannot afford to lose essential health staff at this critical time.
Ghanaians have done well in respecting the Covid protocols thus far. And our success is testament to the over 95% recovery rate the country currently boasts off.
