The quarterfinal of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been set after 8 power-packed "Round of 16" games were played among 16 teams. Most of the national teams who were labelled as "favorites" prior to the commencement of the tournament have been booted out leaving only 8 teams to battle it out at the next stage. Let us go into the various fixtures slated for the quarterfinals stage of the tournament.

Cameroon vs. The Gambia
The host of the 2021 AFCON edition, Cameroon would battle it out with The Gambia. Cameroon has been a side to reckon with in this year's tournament. The Gambia has also displayed some massive performance in the tournament but the host stand a higher chance to qualify to the next stage. Cameroon has always had an upper hand over The Gambia in their encounters. Cameroon would be looking forward to moving closer to Egypt by clinching its 6th AFCON trophy.
Egypt vs. Morocco
Egypt would lock horns with North African brothers, Morocco. Egypt's performance has not been at its zenith but the Pharaohs would surely triumph over Morocco. Egypt would be looking forward to recording its 8th AFCON title.
Senegal vs. Equatorial Guinea
Sadio Mane's Senegal would take on Equatorial Guinea who has pulled up a surprise to make it to this stage. The side has nothing to lose but it is conspicuous that the quarterfinal would be the end of the road for the Equatorial Guineans.
Burkina Faso vs. Tunisia
Ghana's neighbor, Burkina Faso would play against North African country, Tunisia. This game would be a tough one but the Burkinabes would surely sail through to the semifinal looking at the impressive performance the side has displayed in the tournament and their history against the North African country.
Cameroon, Egypt, Senegal, and Burkina Faso are the countries that stand a higher chance of progressing to the semifinal stage.
