Asante Kotoko started the second round with energy and purpose as they initiated attack through Frank Etouga but his connection was not potent to beat goalkeeper Osei Kwadwo Bonsu. Similar effort was produced by George Mfegue but was blocked for corner.
The urge to get the first goal finally came via Richmond Lamptey. The midfielder fed on George Mfegue’s pass inside the box and delivered a shot which was blocked but he hit in the rebound into the net.
As the scores changed to 1 - 0 for Asante Kotoko, the home side maintained their balance and momentum as George Mfegue had his shot blocked by goalkeeper Osei Kwadwo.
WAFA almost conceded a second goal but Richmond Lamptey had his shot saved by the goalkeeper after latching on to George Mfegue’s ball.
WAFA responded with a brilliant attack as they outnumbered Asante Kotoko in the final third but goalkeeper Razak Abalora made a timely save.
George Mfegue and Stephen Amankona gave away decent chances that came their way in the closing stages of the game.
Asante Kotoko ended the game with a win.
