I Do Not Think Asamoah Gyan Will Be Ready For World Cup - Former Black Stars Midfielder Declares

Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has shared a candid view on the intentions of Asamoah Gyan to be part of Ghana’s squad for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He explains that it may be too late for Asamoah Gyan to gain fitness for the global football competition.

"From my side, I don’t think [Asamoah] Gyan will be ready [for the World Cup]."Training alone and training with a club are different. He knows the stage [World Cup] more than me. He has been there more than me. He has been there three times, he has been the captain in 2014 so he knows the kind of stage it is.” He told Joy Sports.

“Training alone two-and-half months before a tournament like this – for my experience I have when I have an injury for six months and came back it took me like three or four months before I got better. "I don’t think he will be ready for the World Cup."

Asamoah Gyan has likened his situation to legendary Roger Milla and hopes to make it to the mundial.

Following the announcement, Asamoah Gyan has been training to put his body in proper shape by gaining match fitness and earn a call up.
