The blues came out victorious after a two legged encounter with Athletico Madrid in the champions league round of 16. Chelsea outwitted and outclassed Diego Simeone's men in a 3-0 aggregate scoreline to oust them from the competition. Chelsea joins the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG, Liverpool, Manchester City, Dortmund, Fc Porto and Real Madrid to await the results of the much coveted quarter final draw tomorrow, 19 March.
At this stage, every team is hoping to get drawn against a comparatively weaker side to ensure smooth progression. Nonetheless, Chelsea look quite formidable to withstand virtually all the qualified teams. They are currently unbeaten under Thomas Tuchel and continue to display sheer ruthlessness week in week out, which makes them obvious contenders for the title.
However, getting drawn against the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Liverpool or PSG would prove herculean for Tuchel's men as these teams look equally formidable. But Chelsea can progress with ease if they are fortunate to get drawn against FC Porto, Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund, who by virtue of their current form, are not considered favourites to win the competition.
The draw has been scheduled to take place tomorrow in Nyon, Switzerland, and has received torrent of speculations about what could pan out. Some believe Chelsea would face PSG, where Tuchel would lock horns with his former club. Others believe the much awaited Chelsea versus Real Madrid could finally happen. Anyway, we will monitor whatever happens and serve you with the outcome.
