The champion man Azumah Nelson was a two-weight world champion, having held the WBC featherweight title from 1984 to 1987 and the WBC super-featherweight title twice between 1988 and 1997.
Despite all his achievements mentioned above, Professor Azumah Nelson has respect for all individuals and participate actively in the development of Ghana Boxing.
On Tuesday March 30 2021, Mr. Azumah Nelson in one of his usual interaction with politicians to discuss the developmental issues concerning Ghana and Ghana boxing as well pays visit to Dr. Yaw Adu Twum in his office.
Dr. Yaw Adutwum is the current Minister of Education responsible for the formulation of the policies in consultation with the cabinet. He is responsible for the formulation and implementation of education policies and providing leadership to the educational programme of state.
The Minister after few hours discussion with the former professional boxer decided to do something to demonstrate to the world that, the good performance of Prof. Azumah Nelson in the game of boxing in his days still remains in the good people of Ghana, hence giving Ghanaians this ready to fight picture.
