Asante Kotoko fans should expect a good performance from me - midfielder

The Ghana transfer market is boiling really hot with football clubs making a lot of signings ahead of the start of the 2021/22 Ghanan Premier League season. Medeama SC have been busy with signings of some young players from second tier clubs to augment the already existing strong squad. Accra Great Olympics cannot be taken out of the picture equally with signings from made MSK Zilina to also strengthen the quality squad they had last season. Great Olympics regional rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak have already acquired some young and experienced players.

They are representing Ghana in the 2021/22 CAF Champions League and their signings were strategic. They have already made a good start to their Africa campaign with a win over Guinea side, Club Industriel de Kamsar. They defeated the side 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in a one legged qualifier due to the Coup D’Etat in Guinea. They have now set up a second preliminary qualifier against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco over two legs. The first leg comes up at the Accra Sports Stadium with the second leg in Morocco in a week.

Accra Hearts of Oak’s rivals, Asante Kotoko are arguably the busiest club in the Ghana transfer window having made almost ten signings with a mixture young lads and experienced players. Kotoko began their capture by signing young defender, Augustine Agyapong who joined Kotoko from lower tier side, Delsamaco Football Club while teenage attacking midfielder, Clinton Opoku signed from Phar Rangers. Young striker , Samuel Boateng also came in from lower tier side, Future Stars.

Asante went on to snap up young winnger, Isaac Oppong from Bactero Sassana. The record Ghana Premier League holders made early capture of experienced players.Richmond Lamptey signed for Asante Kotoko from relegated Inter Allies with central defender, Maxwell Agyemang joining from Wamanafo Mighty Royals. Asante Kotoko made a double signing from Medeama with Richard Boadu, who is a midfielder and right-wing back, Samuel Appiah. We shall talk about Richard Boadu who has vowed to give his best for Asante Kotoko.

The 26-year-old has sent words of assurance to the Asante Kotoko faithfuls of giving his best to the club. Richard Boadu must perform under new coach Prosper Ogum Narteh as Kotoko gets ready to try and win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title this season. Asante Kotoko missed out on the league title to arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak by just four points. Hearts of Oak got 61 points as against Kotoko’s 57 points. Kotoko also failed to win the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup, losing out to Hearts of Oak once again. They the whole of last season without a trophy and would want to correct the mistake moving into next season. Richard Boadu said in an interview with Asante Kotoko media.

“I thank them for following me till now. Not every player will get this opportunity, waiting for my signature since last season. I thank them a lot,” Boadu told the club’s media.“I have watched Kotoko several times and I know what is inside Kotoko and I’m proud to wear a Kotoko jersey. It’s a dream come through. “I will continue to perform well as I did at the former club that impressed them to come for me. Maybe, it might be more than the previous one. I will put all my strength in the team,” he added.

Asante Kotoko are the record Ghana Premier League holders with 24 titles followed by Hearts of Oak with 21 titles. Hearts of Oak have however won all continental titles as against Asante Kotoko’s two CAF Champions League titles. Hearts of Oak have won the CAF Champions League, CAF Super Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup which they beat rivals, Asante Kotoko on penalty shootouts at the Baba Yara Stadium to win it.
