Breaking: Hearts of Oak Midfielder Recovers in Time For AshantiGold Encounter

Hearts of Oak have been given a lifeline with the return of the talismanic midfielder.

The Phobians have not been themselves this season after amassing 61 points to claim the league title last season. Aside from the league title, Hearts of Oak added the 2020/21 Ghana FA Cup title and automatically won the Super Cup making it a treble last season. The Phobians had a poor continental campaign last season where they got eliminated by two North African countries.

They suffered CAF Champions League elimination against Morocco giants, Wydad Athletic Club where they shipped in a 6-2 aggregate over two legs. They suffered another elimination against Jeunesse Sportive de Saoura of Algeria in the CAF Confederation Cup where they shipped in 4-2 aggregate score line over two legs. The Phobians have so far clocked 29 points in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season after 20 matches.

The good news is that, their best attacking midfielder, Salifu Ibrahim has returned to the squad after recovering from an injury. He will be a perfect addition to coach Samuel Boadu’s squad as they prepare to face AshantiGold in their week 21 clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 20.
