Ghana’s strongest is a platform put together by TV3 network to promote body building. Many a time, body building is a sports that many do not regard and also, many people think body builders are thugs. This program was initiated to dispel the negative notions about it. Since it’s inception, it has drawn the attention of many. It’s fan base keeps on increasing day in and day out. This year was its 10th time since it began. It has seen the likes of Ahmed Boakye, Shaka Zulu, May weather and many more. Many of the athletes have obtain more title belts, than others. The reigning champion is Damien Smith also known as Shaka Zulu.
Damien Smith also known in the bodybuilding fraternity as Shaka Zulu is professional athlete who has is currently the reigning strongest man in Ghana. He has won the Ghana’s Strongest Competition two consecutive times and recently won the current completions as well, making him, a three times champion.
Because of his strength and agile nature, in 2018, he won the Arnold Classic Africa Strongman, making him the first Ghanaian to ever win the Anorlds. Also, he won the West African Strongman contest in the same year.
This years competition which was dubbed Champion of Champions saw many athletes coming through. Almost all the athletes were not new to the contest. Shaka Zulu was crowned as the overall best for Truck Head Pull (weight 46,000kg), Giant Tyre Flip, and Keg Toss. His prize was a whopping GHS10,000, a brand new vehicle, and a trip to South Africa to compete in the Arnold Classics Africa.
Next time you go to the gym, make sure there is a competition that you can partake in.
