The Black Satellites of Ghana got off to a flying start with a 4-0 thrashing of Tanzania in the Africa U-20 championship in Mauritania.
A brace from Precious Boah and a goal each from Issaku Fatawu and Joselpho Barnes saw Ghana record an opening day victory in Group C over the debutants.
Coach Abdul Karim Zito says he wants to change the narrative of Ghana being termed as “slow starters” in tournaments.
“In the first place, I’m very happy I have won my first match by four goals to nil.
“But let me tell you it wasn’t easy to win by four goals to nil.
“It was not an easy match as I said but in a football match, you always punished by little mistakes you make.
“So we capitalized on their mistakes and we had our goals.
“When you look at the way they were playing, individually, they are good.
“They also had some chances the should have beaten us.
“But at the end of the day we survived and then score them four which is very good for Ghana.
“Because is being noted as slow starters in tournaments.
“But this time around, we are turning the trend back to starting the tournament at early stage of the games.” Karim Zito.
Ghana are in group C alongside Morocco, Tanzania and The Gambia.
The Black Satellites will next play Morocco on Friday.
