Important Facts About The Hearts And Kotoko Clash

Accra Hearts of Oak will host bitter rivals, Asante Kotoko in a week seven outstanding game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 20.

The Phobians have not had the best of results this season after claiming the treble last term ahead of their rivals. The 2000 CAF Champions League winners won last season’s league with 61 points before going to claim the MTN FA Cup in an 8-7 penalty shootouts win over AshantiGold at the Accra Sports Stadium. The FA Cup won meant that they are the automatic winners of the Super Cup having already annexed the league title.

This season has been short of impressive having raked home six wins, six draws and four defeats. They have 24 points seated 8th on the league table after 16 matches. Asante Kotoko have been more than impressive this season where they currently lie top of the league table with 36 points, 12 points better than Hearts of Oak and six better than second place, Bechem United. The Porcupine Warriors have clocked 11 wins this season with three draws and just two losses.

Kotoko will be looking to break the eight year league trophy drought with Hearts of Oak ending their over a decade long jinx last year. The game comes up at the Accra Sports Stadium at 3:00pm to wind down the first round of games for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
