The outstanding Ghana Premier League, GPL fixture between AshantiGold SC and Asante Kotoko will be played on Thursday afternoon at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi.
This Ashanti regional derby was scheduled to have come off as a Matchday 29 fixture a couple of weeks ago, but, was moved at the instance of the Ghana Police Service, GPS for security reasons.
The GPS has now given to greenlight for the game to go ahead, and, it will come off in the mining township on Thursday afternoon to bring both sides on 31 matches played in the ongoing competition.
The day could also see Asante Kotoko crowned as champions if they avoid defeat at the hands of the Miners who have been on a good run of form lately.
Asante Kotoko lead the standing by nine points and, they require just a point from their remaining four matches to be crowned champions of the 2021/22 GPL competition.
They will go into this outstanding fixture on the back of an important away win over Medeama SC last Sunday at Tarkwa when the odds were heavily against them.
Going into that encounter, the Porcupines had won just one of their previous five matches leaving some to doubt whether or not they could win the diadem at the end of this campaign.
The win over the Yellow and Mauves last weekend, has lifted up their spirits for the rest of the campaign, and, they will look to clinch the ultimate with a win over their neighbours on Thursday afternoon.
AshantiGold SC still harbour hopes of finishing in the top-four despite their mid-table position and, on home soil, they will look to make things difficult for Kotoko.
This therefore sets the stage for an uncompromising encounter as Kotoko go for at least a point that will secure them a record extending 25th league title as AshGold fight for the three points to boost their top-four ambition.
