Asante Kotoko have technically won the 2021-2022 Ghana Premier League after their rivals Accra Hearts of Oak were held on Monday afternoon by Karela United at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians broke the game's deadlock in the 45th minute through Bejamin York, but were unable to hold on after allowing Karela United to burst their defensive line in the 84th minute to draw the score; Hearts squandered their title chances.
Accra Hearts of Oak, who won the trophy last season, have failed to match their arc rivals this season, losing by a solitary goal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the second league fixture.
After Asante Kotoko, the top three teams in the league rankings (Bechem United, Medeama SC, and Accra Hearts of Oak) have no chance of winning the championship.
Asante Kotoko, the league leaders, have five more games to play, including an exciting meeting against AshantiGold SC.
Asante Kotoko will be able to capture their 25th Ghana Premier League championship with a win or a draw.
