Look, journalists must shut up and appreciate Kurt E. S. Okraku. He has been amazing so far as GFA boss.Don't be deceived by Ghana's poor showing at Afcon 2021.
That should not be the only measure of his success as GFA boss. It's normal for journalists to blame him for our failure in Cameroon but again it's sad same journalists are not highlighting his initiatives to holistically solve our dwindling football fortune at all level. Kurt has revived the colts league which has long been dead in this country. He has rebranded it to "the national juvenile league" with little resources. Journalists are not talking about how successful the maiden edition was.Journalists are not discussing the impact of this on our national football. Journalists are not discussing how talents discovered during the competition can be further developed into world class players. We must deliberately create world class players for our country,I repeat.
Juvenile football is the foundation of our football. If it's weak we'll be exposed at all level. We must therefore applaud Kurt for reviving it.Today we want a certain Felix Afena Gyan in the Black Stars. 8/ 9 months ago, he was playing school and lower tier football. There are many of his type in the juvenile and lower tier leagues.Journalists are not interested in national conversations on talent development in this country yet they expect our national teams to do well. Only quick fix- Convince a certain tarriq Lamptey,Huddson Odoi or Mohammed Salisu to come play for Ghana. That's a lazy man's approach. Kurt again has also introduced the National U-15 team expected to groom and develop talents for the senior teams and Journalists are sleeping on this too
When Kurt assumed office, he developed a strategy for capacity enhancement of local coaches.Reason he restructured the technical directorate and introduced German tactician Bernhard Lippert as it head. He tasked the directorate to select 15 local coaches to be part of an elite who would receive training to improve their capacity.Journalists do not follow up and project all these yet we are quick to blame him for Ghana's poor performance of our national teams.Kurt's approach is oriented towards a holistic clean up of our game which will eventually lead to many successes at all levels.
