AshantiGold Lose Appeal, Set To Play In Division Two In 2022/23 Season

The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association has dismissed the case involving AshantiGold and Inter Allies. The committee indicated in their ruling - signed by Chairman Agbesi K. Dzakpasu - that they endorse all sanctioned imposed on AshantiGold, Inter Allies, player and officials.

“In the circumstance, we dismiss the appeal filed by AshantiGold SC, Inter Allies FC, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong, Mr. Emmanuel Frimpong and all the player and officers of the two clubs. We endorse all the sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Committee on the clubs, players and officers.”

AshantiGold and Inter Allies have been demoted to Division Two by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association after months of investigation into a case of match manipulation.

The two teams played a league game in 2020/21 season and a player of Inter Allies made revelations of how the match had been manipulated for betting purposes. The Ghana Football Association launched an investigation through which officials were invited and before the Disciplinary Committee.

AshantiGold and Inter Allies were demoted as part of the sanction whiles some players, technical men and club officials were punished. They decided to appeal the matte and have lost as well.

Followimg this decision, it is not known what the two clubs, officials and coaches will do.
