GFA Makes Way For 2021/22 GPL Season, Five Substitutions To Take Effect

Following a successful meeting between Ghana Football Association and Chief Executive Officers of Premier League clubs, the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season is set for take off. The new season is anticipated to churn out deserving champion in the end.

The meeting focused on preparations for the coming campaign, the use of five substitutes for league matches amongst others.

The use of five substitutes is imminent following changes that have engulfed the sporting world in the global pandemic era.

Defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak are not ready to relinquish power to any competitor. The rainbow club sees itself as being in a pole position to retain the title, since the core of the team is available for business. Playing in the CAF Champions League gives them additional exposure and match fitness for the season’s demands. Having a chunk of old players around partly guarantees continuity and telepathy. After playing CI Kamsar and WAC in the champions league, the coach must have used the opportunity to rectify any looming vacuum in the team. The absence of key midfielder Benjamin Afutu Kotey is another test being monitored as to how Samuel Boadu could deal with it and maintain balance. Arrival of Kofi Kodzi will beef up the attacking part of the team.

Asante Kotoko are shaping up fervently to wrestle title from their arch rivals. They count on making a huge impact in the season after traveling to Dubai for preseason. Even though the team could not win a game in Dubai, they see the future as promising. Head coach Prosper Ogum is gradually wrapping up off season activities while looking at imposing his handiwork on the team’s play. Making a return to Baba Yara could boost the confidence and morale of the playing body. Club officials blamed playing home away from away as the bane behind trophyless season.

Meanwhile, teams such as Medeama, Ashanti Gold, Aduana Stars, Accra Great Olympics and Karela United are gazing at the ultimate. These clubs have invigorated their squad, gone through managerial changes to set the way for success. Aduana Stars have wrapped up deal for former Asante Kotoko marksman Emmanuel Gyamfi, whose addition is tipped to propel the team to glory. The arrival of coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu at Medeama could emboldened their quest to rule Ghana Football this season.

The coming campaign will deliver impressive displays and amazing outcomes which may surpass what transpired last season.

Players and coaches should brace up for long and excruciating campaign that may go down as one of the best.
