Manchester United charge by UEFA following Champions League win against Villarreal

Manchester United have been fined 8,375 by UEFA after being found guilty of two changes around the Champions league game Villarreal at Old Trafford.

Manchester United beat the Spanish outfit 2-1 last month with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a 95th minute winning goal to complete a stunning comeback. The Portuguese captain celebrated in front of the United fans in the Stretford End, but a pitch invader joined in the celebration. An offence which Manchester United was charged for.

Additionally, UEFA has changed Manchester United for throwing of objects at old Trafford during the match. The two times Champions league winners have been found guilty of the changes and been fined €5,000 for the pitch invader and €3,375 for the throwing of objects, which sum up to be €8,375 with both fines needing to be paid within 90 days.

UEFA have released a statement confirming the decision. “To fine Manchester United €3,375 for throwing of objects. To fine Manchester United €5,000 for the invasion of the field of play. The above fines in the total amount of €8,375 must be paid within 90 days of communication of this decision.
