Maxwell Konadu Has Become a Thorn in Hearts of Oak’s Flesh

Head coach of Legon Cities FC, Maxwell Konadu continues to be a thorn in Hearts of Oak’s flesh after guiding his side to hold the Phobians to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

The Royals left it very late in the week 18 clash of the 2021-22 league season at the El Wak Sports Stadium to claw a point. Hearts of Oak opened the scoring as early as the 11th minute when Isaac Mensah connected Sulley Muntari’s well taken corner kick. Legon Cities put up a better second half performance which led to a late equalizer from the boot of substitute, Osmanu Amadu. The first round meeting between the two sides in October last year, ended goalless at the Accra Sports Stadium - meaning they dropped just two points this term compared to last season’s four in two games against Hearts. Head coach of Legon Cities, Maxwell Konadu said: “I feel good but it all comes with the hard work that we put in.

“We did everything we could but Hearts were very strong here. “I must admit that Hearts were very very tough here,” Maxwell Konadu told StarTimes. “We came in strongly in the second half but still they were not giving us chance to break them down. “But we spoke about one thing, that is from nowhere that happened and we had our equalizer so I have to give all credits to the boys and for the young guy, Osman [Amadu] for listening to instructions, that’s all. “Very relieved, that one vital point is very important to us so at a point we thought that we have lost it but I keep telling them they should keep pushing. “We even added one defender so that we could force them to make mistakes but we knew that one mistake will happen.

“What we did in the first half, a corner kick, nobody challenged the ball, it was a free header and we conceded. “So we also had the belief that one mistake will happen for us to score but it came at a time that we never thought it will come.”Maxwell Konadu added. Legon Cities continue to heave a sigh of relief as they continue to drift away from the drop zone. They now sit 11th on the league table with 22 points after 18 games into the season.
