The 26-year-old Polish attacker Krzysztof Piatek leaves Hertha BSC after almost two years and returns to the Italian Serie A. There he joins Fiorentina on loan, which has a buying option.
Krzysztof Piatek and Hertha BSC are going their separate ways again after almost two years - at least for the time being. As the Berlin team announced on Saturday, the 26-year-old will initially be loaned to the Italian first division club Fiorentina until the end of the season. The Italians then have a purchase option. According to reports, this is 15 million euros.
" Krzysztof approached us with the desire for change. It is no secret that he feels comfortable in the Italian league. So we have found a good solution for everyone involved, " said sports director Fredi Bobicon on the Berlin website.
Two years ago, Piatek moved to the German capital under the then Hertha coach Jürgen Klinsmann. The Berlin Bundesliga club paid 24 million euros to traditional club AC Milan for the Polish striker. At the beginning of this season, the center forward was initially out due to an ankle fracture, he recently did not get beyond a substitute role and has only scored one goal in the season so far for the Berlin team. His contract with Hertha should be valid until the end of June 2025.
