Ghana set to win Africa U-20 football tournament on Independence day

Ghana's U-20 football national team, the Black Satellites are confident of winning the Africa U-20 title as they take on Uganda today.

The final of the 2021 tournament is being played in Mauritania this evening with Ghana looking for a fourth triumph at this event.

And, should they win, it will be a special present for the nation as the country celebrates its 64th independence anniversary.

This is what head coach, Abdul Karim Zito told the press ahead of tonight's meeting with the Ugandans.

"The best present we can offer Ghanaians on our special occasion is to win this tournament and, we are confident of doing so despite the strong opposition we anticipate", the former Ghana international said.

Ghana made the final after beating the Gambia 1-0 in their semi-final encounter with Uganda reaching their first final at this level with a very comfortable 4-1 success over Tunisia.

With the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup cancelled, both countries will see this final as an opportunity to get something back for the hard work they have put in, in reaching this far.

And, Coach Zito said, this is exactly what they are looking for as they plan a special present for Ghanaians on the country's 64th anniversary as a nation state.

The Black Satellites will look to add to the three times that Ghana has won this tournament after winning it in 1993, 1999 and 2009.

Ghanaians will hugely welcome this after enduring some unexpected failures at this level over the last few years.
