Public Relations in charge of Communication at the National Women's Football League in Morocco, Fatima Bartali, has stated the euphoria of Moroccans towards the hosting of the Women’s African Cup of Nations and also, preparations for the senior female national team towards this tournament.
Madam Fatima, retierated the Moroccans anxiety’s well as the hosting team’s first WAFCON preparation.
“Moroccan people are interested by this WAFCON. They are waiting for it and also to compare our level with other big teams level like Nigeria or South Africa”.
“Since they didn’t play the qualifiers, Morocco’s national team prepared during a year and a half.
When the coach and his staff came to Morocco. They played more than 10 friendly games, participated in the Aisha Buhari Cup in Nigeria, in a tournament in Malta in Europe so I think that today, Morocco is ready for this important competition”, she noted.
Madam Fatima, acknowledged the importance of the WAFCON hosting towards the development of women’s football.
“It also very important for women’s football development and for people to see that there’s a huge and big level in women’s football in Africa and that we have talent and that our girls need professional championships and professional national teams to evolve and to play football safely”.
Three cities, Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakech have been selected to host this year’sWAFCON with 12 participating countries. It also serves as a qualifier for Women’s World Cup.
