Joseph Amoah Breaks 48 Years Old Record As He Collects Ghana’s First Medal In 200m Race

Ghanaian Professional sprinter, Joseph Paul Amoah has made Ghana proud as he collects Ghana’s first medal in 200m mens race in the ongoing commonwealth games.

Joseph Amoah finished the race with a time of 20.49 seconds which enabled him to finish 3rd after Jereem Richards who finished 1st with a time of 19.80 seconds and Zharnel Hughes who finished 2nd with a time of 20.12 seconds.

Joseph Amoah has therefore won the bronze medal for Ghana and is the first Ghanaian to do so since 1974 in any games.

Joseph Paul Amoah is also the first African to win a medal at the games since 2006 thus indicating that his record should be celebrated by the people of Ghana.

Ghana’s 4x100m relay team was also disqualified earlier on Saturday after the coaches did not inform race officials one hour to the race, as the rules require when replacing an athlete.
