The blues have been very low on confidence and struggling to get back to winnings ways with club head coach, Frank Lampard on a brink of sack. After Chelsea's disturbing loss to Leicester City on Tuesday, it is becoming increasingly likely that Frank Lampard could be sacked soon. Nevertheless, the board is on the lookout to salvage Lampard's situation by making some transfers in January.
The latest update that has emerged from the Blues camp says, Chelsea have made an offer for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba. The Austrian defender was recently linked to Real Madrid, however the move seem to have stalled for a while. Chelsea looks poised to hijack the move to land Alaba in London to solve their defensive deficiencies.
Alaba is a versatile full back who can improvise significantly at every position at the backline which makes him stand out as one of the best defenders in the world. Currently, it is unclear as to which defensive pair Lampard prefers in his first eleven by virtue of the constant changes at the backline and David Alaba's versatility could provide that required stability for Chelsea defence.
The management of the team is still working hard to get Lampard the right players to augment the team's dwindling performance. The club has made it clear they would give Frank Lampard ample time to turn things around.
