Premier League

I planned from home to push more men upfront and it did not work out-Papic

Kosta Papic’s recent appointment as coach before becoming a free agent for some years now, he was with Chippa United and took a few people by surprise. The coach enjoyed great success in Africa with his attack-minded style of play, however his spells with the likes of Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United in Mzansi wasn’t quite successful.

We (Hearts of Oak) can succeed if we work hard on this player who is very sturdy, but relatively immobile, central three of Ansah, Afutu and Nettey has been enough for the Phobians so far, but with pressure mounting on Edward Odoom to win the coveted Premier League title that has eluded the club for a decade, they seem to lack creativity in the final third of the park.

It is not only on plans but football manners count's a lot. I was delighted with the way the Great Olympics side played and, as a Presenter running commentary said after the match, they put many Premier League teams to shame with their attack-minded approach - they did anything but park the bus. I listened to Arteta speaking before the game and he knew his side would spend a large part of the game defending against one of the best sides in Europe.

So when Hearts of Oak SC had possession, Great Olympics had to be disciplined, well-organised and determined - all of which they were calm when they receive the ball and quickly possessed like the home team. According to the Serbian trainer, he is happy with the current squad available but needs enforcement in the attacking department.

“We are working on that, no doubt about that. There are not going to be a lot of changes but we are working very hard on that issue to bring new players to sharpen the squad upfront, there is no doubt about that," Papic said in an interview.
