Poor Ghana Boxers Cry For Food, Others

The president of the the Ghana Boxing federation, George Lamptey is targeting more medals with the Black Bombers in the 2023 Africa Games in Ghana and the Tokyo Olympics in Japan.

According to the February rankings, Sulemanu Tetteh, Samuel Takyie and Jessie Lartey are just inches away from qualifying for the olympic games.

Here is George Lamptey on Ghana’s challenges, preparations and target.

“If the team can be resourced in terms of what to eat, we are not thinking about money.

“It’s only a matter of what to eat, for the training they can come to training.

“From here they will go to their various gyms in the evening to continue training.

“However the team is in good shape and we are assuring the nation since 2023 Ghana is hosting the Africa Games.

“We are assuring the nation, when it comes to boxing we will do our best to take Gold, bronze at least we will rake more medals in 2023.

“With these challenges, if we get more resources, I can assure the nation that we will win more medals in every zone.

“Because we will not acclimatize ourselves with the weather.

“The boxers will be in good condition.

“One thing is they want the name for themselves, that’s what they are looking for, it’s not the money aspect.

“Though the money aspect will cushion them but they just want a name for themselves.

If you look at the pedigree of Ike Quartey, Azumah Nelson thei names are branded with so many things.

“That’s the motivation for the boxers.

“So I can assure them that 2023 is not about the money but the boxers making a name for themselves.” George Lamptey told Nicholas Akosah of Amanie fm.
