Black Stars Of Ghana Open World Cup Against Portugal On November 24, As FIFA Makes Changes To Dates

World football organizing body FIFA has made changes to the date and time for the commencement of this year’s World Cup in Qatar. Due to the changes made to the World Cup date, host nation Qatar will now face Ecuador on November 20, as the opening game.

A FIFA statement released on Thursday included: "The decision followed an assessment of the competition and operational implications, as well as a thorough consultation process and an agreement with key stakeholders and the host country.”

The change in time and date will not be a major source of worry to the Black Stars of Ghana who will be traveling to the Gulf State for the competition.

Black Stars of Ghana will be opening their World Cup journey with a game against Portugal on November 24, four days after the commencement of the main event.

Black Stars of Ghana are part of teams that will feature in the global football competition as Africa representative.

Black Stars will be aiming to make an impact following their absence from the prestigious competition in the last edition. Black Stars - after the Brazil debacle - could not make it to the next World Cup. This is another occasion to prove a point at football’s biggest platform.
