Kumasi Asante Kotoko drew parity with Dansoman based club Liberty professionals on Sunday at Sogakope. The game was full of drama, as both side came with a single motive and that’s the mentality to win.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko were already the league leaders before entering the game against the Scientific Soccer Lads. Kumasi Asante Kotoko had come from behind in their last three matches and were looking forward to rectify this error.Liberty Professionals on the other hand had also won once in their last four matches going into the game.
Liberty Professionals took the lead at the 36th minute of the game through a former Kotoko player Evans Owusu. They pounded a lot of pressure on the porcupine royals and could have taken a 2 goal lead before the half time, but the defence of the porcupine royals did their job.
At the second half of the game, head coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, coach Mariano Baretto quickly made a substitution which brought the equalizer. Latif Anabila replaced Yusif Mubarik.
Kotoko had a free kick with just 7 minutes to close the game and took that opportunity to equalized the goal through Ismail Ganiyu’s header. They also created one or two chances to kill the game off but it went wasteful.
Liberty Professionals are still in the relegation zone, with 26 points and occupy the 16th position as they take on Ebusua Dwarfs as their next fixture in the league, Asante Kotoko also maintained their position as league leaders with 45 points as they take on WAFA as their next fixture.
