Black Stars Striker Asamoah Gyan Wants To Play In 2022 World Cup, Afena Gyan And Inaki For Bench?

Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan has revealed an intention to play in 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with the Senior National team. He likens his situation to that of Cameroonian legend Roger Milla back in 1994 FIFA World Cup.

“Anything can happen, it has happened before back in 1994 when Roger Milla came back from retirement to play in the World Cup.” Asamoah Gyan told BBC’s John Bennet.

The former Al Ain striker hammered on the fact that he has not retired from active service but injuries have had an impact on his career, which he is working around to bounce back.

”But I haven’t retired yet, I haven’t announced my retirement, I have been out for almost two years now due to injuries and my body shutting down.”

“I just need to get my body back in shape, so I have started training of course and I’ll see how my body reacts to playing competitive football.”

The former Legon Cities player sees himself as talented and could be impactful when he gains his form.

“Talent wise, everything is there already, so I just have to prepare physically and then we’ll see what happens.”

Asamoah Gyan last played for Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League.
