Alcohol in almost every society is common among celebrities because it is a major way of socializing. Footballers around the world also share this believe, but some have said resisted the urge to drink alcohol among them.
Here is a list of footballers who don't drink alcohol:
1. Gareth Bale
The Welshman admitted he never drinks alcohol because he doesn't like the taste.
"I don't like the drink, to be honest. It's not the fact that i choose not to drink alcohol. I just don't like the taste. I obviously tasted it, but i didn't like it so it doesn't do anything to me to be honest and i don't see how it can help me in any way."
2. Javier Hernandez
When he joined Manchester United in 2010, it was revealed that Hernandez doesn't drink even a drop of alcohol.
"Chicharito has his diet, he doesn't eat anyhow, he doesn't even drink a drop of alcohol. He doesn't get up late for whatever reason.” Javier's grandfather, Tomas Balcazar, said.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo's reason is more personal. His father passed away after years of alcohol abuse, and this is the main factor why he decided to avoid taking alcohol.
4. Yaya Toure
The Ivory coast international refused a bottle of champagne as a man of the match due to his Islamic faith. “Sorry, i don't drink because I'm a Muslim,” he said.
5. Harry Kane
As some footballers go wild when they reach the big moment, the Tottenham and England striker has revealed he can't remember the last time he went to a club to party.
“If i need to relax i take my dogs for a walk or play golf. I don't remember the last time i went to a club to party. Obviously everyone is different, but i just love to sit down and have a barbecue with friends at my house."
When asked if he enjoys a beer on vacation, Kane replied, “Not me, I'm probably not allowed. I'll just stick with Coke."
6. Mohammed Salah
Like all of the Muslims on the list, Salah does not drink, he rather enjoys his health and nutrition. “Nutrition is so important, it's part of the game,” says Salah. "It helped me recover, allowed me to sleep better, and helped my body adjust quickly."
He adds, “My nutritionist says that because i don't have fat on my body, i can eat whatever i want. I don't drink either, so it's okay."
7. Franck Ribery
After marrying a Muslim woman of Moroccan origin, Franck Ribery returned to Islam in 2006. It once told his team mates in Bayern Munich, when celebrating the title of Bundesliga, to keep alcoholic beverages that his religion prohibits away from him.
Furthermore French Muslim footballer Franck Ribery opened a bar without alcohol to serve fruit juices in Boulogne-sur-Mer, in order to promote the consumption of non-alcoholic drinks by the French.
